Local Boy Coles to take on Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars
Defending your home turf can be a tough ask especially when you are the sole Northern Territorian in a field full of racers from all over Australia. This year’s Nitro up North event will see 10 Nitro burning funny cars take to the Hidden Valley dragstrip in the biggest Nitro show ever seen in Darwin. For Nathan Coles this is his chance to put on a show for his local fans and prove he is the King of Hidden Valley.
Driving his 4000horsepower Pontiac appropriately named the gambler 23 year old Nathan is keen to put the local track knowledge to good use on July 13th. “We have been looking forward to this event for a while now” beamed an excited Nathan. “The Aeroflow outlaw nitro funny car series puts on massive events all around Australia, the racing is always close and we can’t wait to show case it in front of our local crowd. Hopefully we can use our home ground advantage and knock off some of the more experienced Aeroflow guys”.
“It’s just an awesome show” explained car owner and Nathan’s father Peter Coles. Its tight side by side racing with big Nitro flames, watching two of these cars side by side at over 400km/h is impressive. the fact there will be 10 of them up here will be something the NT public have never seen before and we are looking forward to being part of it.
Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny cars series manager Morice Mcmillin was excited to have the Coles family competing at Nitro up North. “As it stands now, I would have to say they (Coles family) are favourites for the event, Not only will the crowd be on their side but they are the only team to have raced at the Hidden Valley dragstrip.
The Event Kicks off with the Aeroflow Pit Party. “The Pit Parties are a cool initiative, we open up the pit area and let the kids sit in the cars, they get to talk to the drivers, we have free giveaways, hero cards, bouncy castle, face painting and much more. Its an awesome family event for the big and little kids so make sure you get down to the track nice and early” explained McMillin
The star-studded field includes One Bad Kiwi, Nitro Express, The Bandit, King Kong, Red Devil, LA Hooker, Let’s Boogie, Terminator, and Dark Horse.
Nitro Up North Kicks off at 4.30pm with the Aeroflow Pit party which is free with every entry ticket to the event. The Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro funny cars will be on track at 6pm, 8pm and 10pm.
